1. MagicEars Online Tutoring Job for Beginners
We are currently at the beginning of our list of the best online teaching jobs. Therefore, it’s only natural that I start with a teaching job for beginners. Let me introduce you to MagicEars.
This is a program meant to teach only students located in China, via the internet, of course.
All the students are between the ages of 4 and 12. Therefore, make sure you can handle teaching children that young!
But don’t worry! It’s all a lot simpler than it sounds.
Every class is made of up to four children. In this way, you won’t get overcrowded. Plus, signing up is extremely easy. All you have to do is create an account with them, and you’re in. How great is that?
However, be aware that only people who have a bachelor’s degree can apply! You will also need proof of experience in teaching. Plus proof that you are an American or Canadian citizen.
2. TutorMe - Best Online Tutoring Platforms
The main reason why you want to join TutorMe as an online teaching platform is the payment.
It starts at $16 per hour and you have the possibility of advancing very quickly to higher amounts. Of course, seeing as the schedule is flexible, you can earn as much as you want.
On TutorMe, you don’t have to spend an entire hour with a single student, which is one of my favorite things.
This means that the minutes you spend with every single person you interact with will be cumulated to make sure you get paid!
Here’s one thing you need to know. TutorMe is based on a rating system.
Therefore, all your students can and will leave you ratings based on how you behave.
The ratings you get decide if you are given more jobs. As a result, you need to be on your best behavior all the time!
3. Chegg Tutors Online Teaching Jobs for All Levels
The great thing about Chegg Tutors is that it welcomes tutors from all over the world, as long as they have the necessary qualifications.
This is one of the best online tutoring platforms which you are sure to love. Chegg allows you to connect with every level of students including college ones.
If you wish to teach at that level, you will have to prove that you are getting your 4-year certificate.
Needless to say, Chegg pays really well. You will get $20 per hour.
Plus, you can make more if you choose specific disciplines.
4. VIPKid Tutor Online for Young Children
This is another one of my favorite platforms for young children of ages between 4 and 12.
VIPKid is a website that provides education for Chinese children who are not able to join a traditional American middle school.
This is where you come in!
First of all, when becoming a tutor online, you must be an American or Canadian citizen.
Secondly, you must have at least one year of experience teaching children. As you can see, this is not a job meant for beginners.
But, don’t worry, the pay will more than makeup for it.
VIPKid offers $22 per hour. Plus, my favorite part, they give bonuses for teachers who are on time. Or if lots of students decide to come to your class because they love you!
5. Skooli Online Teaching Website for Certified Teachers
Only the best online tutors can apply for Skooli but I already know that’s you!
The reason why I said the best is that Skooli only hires tutors who have a teaching license issued by the government.
They will also need to present a specialty certification when they apply for a teaching job with the platform.
The great news is that, out of all the best online teaching jobs that I have researched, Skooli seems to be one of the few that offers topics such as marketing, finance, and accounting.
Therefore, if you were looking for a place to unload your knowledge, this is it!
6. Tutorhub Classic Teaching Platform
Out of all the options on our list of the best paying online tutoring jobs, Tutorhub is the most traditional one.
In the sense that it offers classic topics such as English, History, and Geography. They are taught to children of all ages in a simple format that includes a video whiteboard.
Therefore, if you want to be the best online maths tutor, Tutorhub is the place to do it. However, I must warn you that the platform is hosted in the UK.
They do accept tutors and online teachers from all over the world. However, the time zone difference might prove difficult for you.
7. Wyzant the Flexible Online Teaching Platform
If it’s the flexibility you’re looking for, you have definitely found it if you apply for a teaching job with Wyzant.
However, before applying, you need to be aware that this also means flexibility for the students, not just for you.
They have pricing options called ‘pay-as-you-go.’ This gives the students the chance to pay only for the lessons they actually need. Instead of committing to a block of lessons they might not want.
So, what does this mean for you as an online tutor?
That Wyzant is a better option if you’re looking for a part-time job.
The platform will ask you to create a profile. Be careful how you do this!
Your profile works as an ad. Think of it as a social media account or a dating profile.
Those who are interested have to scroll through profiles and choose you based on what they see. Therefore, if your profile is not interesting enough, you won’t get picked.
8. Varsity Tutors Online Teaching Jobs for Teenagers
Yes, I didn’t make a mistake, you read that well. The reason I chose this platform for our list of the best online teaching jobs is this.
People as young as 18 can apply for a teaching job and get hired!
Varsity Tutors is a platform that caters to both classic tutorings as well as online groups and classes as long as they are small. They are a live platform for learning, so make sure you take that into account!
If you’re interested in applying, all you need to do is send them your transcript from high school. If they want to see more of you, then they will schedule a phone interview.
And I have another piece of great news. Varsity Tutors pays one of the largest fees on our list - no less than $30 per hour!
9. Preply Online Teaching Platform with Amazing Pay
Let’s continue our countdown of wonderful online teaching jobs with one that pays amazingly well.
Preply is an online teaching platform that has received glorious reviews on Glassdoors. They have a rating of 4.8 stars out of 5, which is magnificent.
Still, the best part about this platform is just how much it pays.
According to teachers who have worked for Preply, you can make as much as $550 every week. If you’re popular, of course.
So, if you want to know how to apply for online tutoring jobs, this is it!
One thing you need to keep in mind is that Preply practices harsh commissions. They will take 100% on the first lesson payment you earn.
After that, depending on how many lesson hours you manage to complete with your students, the commission will vary between 18% and 33%.
10. Kaplan - Best Online Teaching Jobs
Speaking of great teaching platforms that pay very well, let me tell you about Kaplan.
The website provides education to more than one million students as well as businesses and some of their college partners. As a result, you will be able to choose at what level you want to teach.
Kaplan asks you to have a degree as well as experience when it comes to teaching. Therefore, as you can see, this particular online teaching job is not for beginners.
The platform has a great rating online, specifically on Glassdoor. It has received 4.6 stars out of 5.
When it comes to fees, you will be happy to know that Kaplan pays between $17 and a whopping $38 per hour.
However, I must warn you about one thing when becoming a tutor online with them.
There are a few situations when you will discover that your work cannot continue online. Therefore, you may be required to meet your students in person.
If this is something you cannot do, think before you apply for a job with this platform.
11. Studypool Online Platform for Micro-Tutoring
Here is a platform with a very interesting concept. It is opposed to the other ones that I have presented on this list and which offer predetermined blocks of lessons.
Studypool focuses on micro-tutoring that is available 24/7.
What does that mean?
That, if a student asks a question on the platform, you must bid to offer your help. The student will choose the bid he likes the most.
This is the reason why Studypool is host to more than 50,000 teachers.
However, the good news is that you can create an account and apply even if you are a college student yourself.
Therefore, it’s a good way to earn some extra money, making the platform a fantastic side hustle or part-time job.
Plus, this can count as experience on your resume if you’re planning on getting a better job on a different online teaching platform that requires it.
Studypool is a great way to get started in the world of online teaching and to make some money while you’re at it!
12. StudyGate - The Best Profile Wins the Job
This platform works pretty much in the same way that Studypool does. You will have to create an account on their website and put together a profile.
But, be careful because this might just be the most important thing you do!
Students check out your profile and decide whether they want you to be their tutor or not.
The process is similar. Students post a question and you must bid with an answer. However, if your profile is not strong enough, you might not get picked.
The platform in itself claims that some of their tutors make up to $13,000 every month in this way. I guess you’ll just have to try and see!
13. TutaPoint Online Platform for Very Experienced Teachers
Your profile won’t matter too much here because first, you have to get past the interview stage. TutaPoint is a fantastic online teaching platform that is famous for only hiring the best online tutors.
This means that you will be asked to create a video to introduce yourself as a person. This is required because TutaPoint only accepts friendly, likable, and energetic people.
Apart from that, during the interview, you will need to talk about your education, academic background, and provide references.
And, of course, you also need to be an American citizen and have at least two years of experience as a teacher.
Yes, TutaPoint might have the longest list of demands yet.
The best part is that they pay very well since they only hire professionals and they are a very reputable company that will look amazing on your resume.
